The Samaritan Women is based in the Maryland-DC area and has provided long-term restorative care to victims of trafficking for over 12 years. We recently created The Institute for Shelter Care, which is a research and training effort that seeks to study this field, advance best practices, and offer training so that we can improve the quality of care for survivors nationwide. As you know, this is still a young field and there are many different approaches in practice. We conduct surveys throughout the year to gather a baseline of who’s out there and to understand the different expressions of how this work is being done.
