ClearTrust, LLC Declares Itself a TraffickingFree Zone™

ClearTrust. joins forces with the U.S. Institute Against Human Trafficking to combat sex trafficking in Florida

Tampa, Fla. August 2, 2019 —ClearTrust, LLC today declared itself a TraffickingFree Zone in collaboration with the U.S. Institute Against Human Trafficking (USIAHT), and has donated 10% of its gross income for the month of June to USIAHT.

Headquartered in Tampa, Florida, ClearTrust, LLC is an award-winning, full-service stock transfer agent, serving public and private companies and community banks. ClearTrust helps businesses of all sizes and industry sectors with digital shareholder recordkeeping. They oversee dividend payments and dividend reinvestment plans, shareholder meetings, and stock/cash exchanges for M&A transactions. They also offer compliance consulting and educational training related to federal and state securities regulations.

“USIAHT is doing remarkable work to combat modern-day slavery– but nonprofits shouldn’t have to carry the burden alone,” said Kara Kennedy, executive director of ClearTrust. “It’s incumbent upon all of us, no matter our sector or industry, to work together to fight human trafficking in our communities. We are thrilled to partner with USIAHT by declaring ClearTrust a TraffickingFree Zone, and look forward to seeing how this organization will continue to transform our society into a safer, freer place for all.”

The TraffickingFree Zone program is an integrated approach to ending sex trafficking in a city or community through multi-sector partnerships involving law enforcement, government, schools, nonprofits, and the business community. The TraffickingFree Zone program helps businesses educate and raise awareness among their employees about trafficking and encourages a “zero tolerance” company proclamation by business leaders.

“We are very proud and honored to be partnering with ClearTrust,” said Kevin Malone, co-founder and president of USIAHT. “We hope more companies follow their example in implementing the TraffickingFree Zone program, and we look forward to working together to end sex trafficking in Florida and America.”

The first step in becoming a TraffickingFree Zone is issuing a proclamation declaring your company a TraffickingFree Zone, taking a public stance against human trafficking and sex buying within your organization. The next step is to have employees within the company and organization trained on the signs and indicators of human trafficking and how to respond. The third step is to adopt a policy within the organization against sex trafficking and sex buying by having a written statement.

“Trafficking is an invisible crime, which means it’s easy to overlook its presence in our communities,” added Geoff Rogers, CEO of USIAHT. “By taking a stand and declaring itself a TraffickingFree Zone, ClearTrust is raising awareness of a crime that harms the most innocent and vulnerable in our population. We look forward to seeing how their voice will shape the conversation in their local community and beyond.”

Florida consistently ranks third in the nation for the number of calls made to the National Human Trafficking Hotline. TraffickingFree Zones have already been implemented across Florida in Pasco County, Pinellas County and the Cities of Clearwater, New Port Richey, Dade City and Temple Terrace.
