Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson said at a Wednesday, Aug. 19, press conference that Matthew J. Hyde, 40 believed he was speaking to two 14-year-old girls who really were sheriff’s deputies acting as “chatters.” “He had a 15-minute phone call with one of our decoys,” noted Swanson. “In his truck when he was arrested, he had two loaded firearms, a police ID, a police badge of which he was not associated with.” Hyde also previously worked as an officer for the Mt. Morris Police Department, Clayton Township Police Department, as well as a Genesee County Parks ranger.
GENESEE COUNTY, MI – A law enforcement operation targeting child traffickers led to the arrest of 17 people. Over the course of five months, Swanson said that a team in his department known as GHOST – the Genesee Human Oppression Strike Team – had set up six stings, during which law enforcement agents posed as 13, 14, and 15-year-old children on social media sites.
FLINT, Mich – Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson and deputies says in one case a 16-year-old girl was found locked in a barn in Montrose. Swanson says the barn was surrounded by barbed wire and says it appears as if the girl had been trafficked.
OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. (WJRT) – A Pontiac man is facing seven charges accusing him of operating a large human trafficking ring in several Oakland County communities.
The allegations against 23-year-old Dallas Ephraim Jordan-King include prostitution and sex trafficking numerous young women in Auburn, Pontiac and elsewhere in the county, according to the Michigan Attorney General’s Office.
MASON, MI — A Mason man is facing human trafficking and sexual assault charges after a girl told police he made her produce child porn, according to court records.
The girl, who was younger than 16, told officials at the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services she had been sexually assaulted by Devin Vasquez, 19, Lansing Police Detective Jason Pung testified in hearing that led to criminal charges.
“There’s not much of it that goes on that doesn’t involve a hotel at one point or another,” said Jensen. “I mentioned that I had only had a couple experiences with this in my 45 years of managing hotels, but that could be because I was naive.”
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Detroit, MI. 70-year-old Richard Knider Jackson of Detroit was convicted on charges of sex trafficking using force and coercion, distribution of controlled substances and maintaining a drug premises.
“It’s the same reaction as it was 13 years ago where 90 percent of the audience still has no idea that this happens, and it’s really sad because I work my butt off as well as every one of these agencies and I see hundreds of survivors and there’s still a majority of people that have no idea it happens here,” Flores said.
Jarrell and Kobel of Crawford County, MI. were arrested for human trafficking. Jarrell is charged with two counts criminal sexual conduct first degree (during felony), both felonies punishable by life, one count unlawful imprisonment, a felony punishable by 15 years and/or $20,000, and habitual offender fourth offense.
The man who was originally charged in the case, 36-year-old Rusty D. Reuille of Michigan City, fatally shot himself as La Porte County Police attempted to arrest him just days after Cannon’s arrest, authorities said at the time
